Can't Get A Repair Done To Save My Life

I have contacted 6 or 8 roofers in my (Gainesville, FL) area for an estimate on repairs to leaking wood damage in the overhang over my back door. The first one came and looked at my roof and said he'd mail the estimate, and never did. That's the best service I've gotten because all the others have said they were coming but never showed up at all. One told me that they could only put on a new roof and that they were too backed up to do repairs.
What do I have to do to get this problem fixed before water starts getting into my house? I don't know anybody in this (Gainesville, FL) area, so nobody is going to do me any favors. There's no sense in having to get in line behind the next wave of hurricane damage when I'm begging and pleading for someone to take care of this now.
I appreciate any advice anyone can give me on the matter. Thank you

Supply and demand dictates that the one with the most $$$$$ to offer gets first service...but that is not the case in Florida...if you raise prices in a time of low supply and high demand there, you will be arrested for gouging, so you cannot do this and serve the customers willing to part with the $$$$. Thank your state legislature for nobody being willing to service your problems.

Problem is repairs are high price here and that is due to the permit and liability factor. Most stay away from them. try quality smith on line.

I know! but here they want you to accept responsibility for whole roof when they come to inspect repair. That means repair salesman better know his stuff or a 850 repair turns into a 2000 job!

here i give them the option to repair with no warranty or if they want warranty ..then buy a new roof!!!
i dont warranty repairs cuz it always start leaking somewhere else..maybe a tile repair if they are done in a whole section type of thing...
some companies do.. i dont..you can have them

The repairman is generally the most skilled hydrologist in a company.

We bid some repairs when I first set up here to replace some missing shingles. Pulled permit and had what they call a preinspection. They said must have plastic cement on valley and proper overlap on dripedge and a variety of other issues. I had the salesman rebid the jobs for a new roof. $550 repair to change out 2 sq missing shingles turns into taking off all dripedge and bull in the valleys that are already installed and whatever else they said. Best to stay away. here you assume what ever liabilty and warranty the state decides.

I do it the same way Q if you get a new roof you get a warranty. Never warranty a repair.
Sounds like supply and demand to me as well though. Most company's around here save repairs for rain days. I don't like them cause when you try to fix them it just causes more problems. You never know what the putz before you did.
Maybe you should just get some estimates for a roof replacement. See if you can get a rise out of anyone that way.

I warrant all of my repairs to be leak-free.
I am in Illinois, though. Florida sounds like a bunch of malarky, Shane. I wouldnt do them either.
