I can't see the starter so I can't say, But It looks like to me that the installer is temping in the wall area and is going to be putting in the step flashings at a later date and will install the rest of the shingles at the same time.
It looks like he is just putting the shingles like that to keep the weather out until he gets to it.
I see nothing wrong with this application so far.
Looks like a job in progress. The pictures of the finished roof looks OK.

the pics of finished roof are not there. So in all honestly you can say that is correct. Last i checked when an aposing vertical wall is there (looking at pic) looks like new con. IMO last i checked running the vertical wall first is the correct way of doing things. Flashing is very important. Dont see any. Further more it is not country mansion. Maybe ur sticking up for this guy cause it is ur buddy in warren u told me about. Either way it is NOT normal practice. Looking at the timing of the lighting im sure i would have time to flash and complete. what kinda op is this guy running.

G, do you have a buddy in Warren?

As a matter of fact he is a Buddy of mine. I have seen the final pictures of this house and it is perfect......As is all of his work.
Regardless of the lighting, who cares? You do not know the circumstances of the roofing project. You do not know what was being done, what other work was being done, what other contractors needed to do work to that wall. You do not know if the roof had to be dried in and then the work on the wall completed.
You know nothing of this project, yet you will gladly give your holier than thou roofing critique.
I'll send Northstar in here to stick up for himself and to explain to the roofing god what and why he installed his roof the way he did.

Pride, are you on somethng? I saw nothing that says this is a Country Mansion. What I see is a title, probably a file name under which he has the jobs IB Roof - Country Mansion.....how many jobs were in the file to begin with and how many got transferred to the Roofer's Review, and why are you ripping up somebody else's temporary nightseal?
Do you think you will look better if you try to make other look worse? I see no problem with what this guy did, he made the job watertight until (it appears) the flashings are made and installed...most likely the next day?

This is my buddy Mark's work. If you have a problem with it, I am sure he would be happy to have you over to talk about things and share a beer.
Youre really making yourself look like a jerk.

Master, Warren is over on the East side of the state, over by Detroit.
And Pride, I asked him about you, he said he has never even heard of you.?!?!?! have you really been in business for 35 years? you would think being around that long, a major roofer in your area would have heard about you?
I read on another site, you are a salesman, not even a roofer? that you drive around in a car, not even a truck? How do you know so much about roofing if you are selling roofs out of a car?

The only thing I ever asked Pride about Warren for was to confirm that he was NOT Roofcape for someone else....LOL.....I only have two roofing friends in Michigan....G tape and Northstar....neither of them had to do with any conversations Pride and I had.

I drive a blazer to see jobs. not a f250. Secondly sir since i have been noted that the job is not done. I can now see where i misunderstood this. I dont do new con. But last i checked vertical walls are the major and eaves are minor. You bringing another into the mix is what i had expected out of this. I will call this mark up and be a man and explain where i was at fault. Dont agree the way it was handled but either way i can see another piont to it. Unlike some others i can admit when wrong. Who could that be.

Regardless of the misunderstanding, the problem here is the way you jumped to conclusions about someone elses roof, the way you belittled the installations and the workmanship. Next time I think it would be wise to think about your posts before you post them.
