I have been getting estimates from roofing contractors for a tear-off and re-roof. The average estimate is around $3100 and above for a 30yr Timberline laminate shingle with an underlayment of #30 felt. One estimate I received was much cheaper at $2600. This contractor uses 30yr Owens Corning laminate shingles. Should I be wary of this bid?

that's the funny thing, the lowballer is not leaving anything out. is the owens corning 30yr not as good quality as the timberline 30 yr?

when he came over for an estimate i asked for his insurance papers. they look in order. he's a failry young guy and has one other employee, he's been in business for about a year. i don't know if i should trust a younger person or if he is lowballing so that he can get his company's name out there.

by the price, I would say it would have to be a single story 11 square ranch.

here in san Diego sound low i am not sure of the contractor practices in your area..... a lot of the contractors here have my prices or even more....
Master dosent seem convince either... Do like he says check out everything...
The few times i bid low it was because i had no work and i ended up having a hard time making ends meet and delivering quality...
where are you calling this roofers from????
just curious
