I have thought about this today and for some reason we bicker about the dumb stuff rather than helping out other roofers and the consumers. Hence the start of im chat thing. Everyone was invited and no one other than SYS, QRFL and i showed. If we can not get are differences set aside well then dont post negitive posts. We look like monkeys (blanking) a football. I feel teaming against each other does zero for the site and consumers, thinkin thats what it was made for. WHen a person is attacked it creates such a negitive feeling on the site and all involled. I am as guilty as the rest and you know who you are. There is no moterator but i am stepping up to well try and make some order so we all can be proud of what we know and help each other.

A moderator on this site would be great. The first order of business would be to get rid of the Russian whore post and the old drug posts.

Remember, we have homeowners come on this and every other roofing and contractor site on the web looking for advice. The last thing we want to show interested homeowners is worthless posts.

For example a few months ago I had a homeowner call me from this site I believe in the classified section. They seen my post with business information and saw my long warranty and called me and I got the job. I wasn't the lowest bid but they said due to my bid being so well written and to the point on every subject they decided to go with me. Keep in mind fellow roofers you may have a future customer reading your posts!!!

I just think if we work together we can make a impact to every consumer and to the guys just starting out.

Dougger that's the best idea I have heard from start to finish. A moderator is an wonderful ideal but good luck finding the owner of this site to arrange something like that There is no email or anything. There used to be to bad I didn't keep record of it.

Why should mature, responsible, respactable people need a moderator? The others with the drug posts, and the swearing, and all the other garbage...well I hope the people that come in for advice can tell the difference between those posters and us.

It is like saying we need a principle in order to behave and control ourselves. WTF?

As a homeowner and consumer who ventured on this site on Tuesday, to simply ask a couple of questions, and get some insight - I will give you my perspective - for what its worth.

I was surprised that the first post I saw was about some Russian escort service - but I think most consumers are smart enough to realize that that comes from some bozo, and not a REAL user of this board.

But what I will say, is that it seemed to me like you guys were so worried about going back and forth about BS stuff, that a serious question probably wouldn't get the attention, that I as a consumer was looking for. Don't get me wrong, I came looking for some free advice, and you get what you pay for, but rather than this site being a platform where the participants can differentiate themselves - in a POSITIVE way - some of the posts make it seem like the participants are no more equiped than Joe-six-pack, who is working on the roof up the street. So your participation in the site is probably more detrimental.

This site could be a wonderful business tool for you guys, but not if it is not used in a professional manner. The only moderator this board needs is a mirror in front of every person to see if they would be proud of what they are about to submit (just ike alot of other boards/chat rooms).

Again, this is a consumer's view - for what its worth.....

dammeyergolf That was very well put. Thank you for letting us all know how you feel about the whole thing it is very appreciated. You are so very right in every thing you said here.

I think a moderator is needed indeed simply to remove the pornographic and drug related posts, and ban the offender's IP's from further imposing on everyone here. It is very distasteful and inapropriate here. However what we all got into there in that one post was also distasteful. Not excluding my self from this distastefulness. It doesn't help to see us all conflicting with each other.

I do have to say though with all our bickering back and forth we mostly agree on the answers to the questions posted here from the laymen. I think that should speak volumes myself. We can't agree on much unless it's the right answer!

I recall that question Shane had a most excelent answer to that question.

I have no clue what u people are talkin bout so im going with no. Hey if we cant meet as a group at a normal time then certain partys are not willing to put forth effort to make this a better site. Personally i think we need a medator to remove the garbage listed but i am willing to step to the plate and help roofing.com become solid site for consumer and roofer help.
