Should I Replace My Roof

Hello all, I wondering if I should replace my roof. Here is my story.
When we purchased the house a year ago, the inspector said the roof is in pretty good condition, and it should last another 5 to 10 years. Also, he thought the house had at least 2 roofs.
Last month I installed a solar attic fan. After I cut the hole in the roof, I looked at the wood portion I cut out, and I counted 6 shingles. Do I have 3 roofs on my house? By the way, I cut the hole about 10 inches down from the top of the cap. After seeing how many shingles I had on my roof, I wish I hadn't cut that hole, because that darn fan wasn’t that easy to get under the top portion of the shingles. Also, I had to apply roof tar around the fan, because I was afraid it would leak. Now I have a black blob on my roof.
While I was up there installing the fan, I noticed that the roof shingle granular stuff was wearing off really easily from just walking on it, and there was a lot of roof grit in the gutters. Also, when I look up at the roof from the back yard, I noticed that there are a few shingles coming up, but it’s not that bad.
Anyway, I hope you guys can help.
Thanks

YES! Replace your roof. It would be worth it to have assurance and before you get leaks and then rotted decking and damaged drywall. Less money in the long run.

ur in the begin stages of failure from what i gather. WIth 3 layers it would be smart to do a tear off and get it back down. Its more a weight issue than anything else other than shingles over another layer dont last near as long. I do have a question tho, Help me understand why you have placed an attic vent on ur roof?

I installed a solar attic fan too cool down the attic, and I noticed a significant temperature difference in the living space. Probably a good 10 degrees cooler.
Anyway, I guess I’ll get a roof estimate. Thanks for the advice.

LOL No big deal I almost didnt get that far. Sir that was quite humorous how you put that bad news. Time to get estimates. Here in Missori you can't have more than 3 layers it's against the law. Don't pass out when you see that rather large number at the bottom line that's normal. Hope all goes well, good luck to you.
