Is it wise to apply a 2-ply emulsion/fabric system with an elastomeric coating over a gravel surfaced coal tar pitch membrane? Will the gases and movement from the pitch destroy the emulsion?

I do not think it is warrantable or recommended. That is truly throwing money away. Is your roof leaking?

Thanks for your reply. We received a proposal for this system with a 10-year warranty from the contractor and from the materials person. I am not sold on this as I have discussed this with others and have received negative from them as well. The roof is a commercial building, 8 stories and leaks all over the place. The owners don't want to spend a whole lot of money thus we are getting these kinds of proposals.

Well, they will get what they pay for, I am sure of this. The elastomerics I use state clearly "not for use on gravelled surfaces or caol tar roofs".
