Curious what some of the average prices are so when the new roofing company comes here I know what to expect.

20 squares of dimensional shingles is what the last roofing company put up there. I would like to know the difference in price "average" tiles would be.

Is that " tiles " as in cement tile, or ceramic tile ?

normally about 4 to 5 times the cost of standard shingles.

Is there a big price difference between cement tiles and the ceramic in price?

I'm sure the labor has to be more expensive I just don't know what prices are competitive.

20 squares am I looking at 8,000-15,000+?

you dont put ceramic tiles on the roof. Here i get 235 to 250 per sq for 30 year dimensional and 550 to 625 for concrete tile, 650 to 910 for clay. that is tearing off tile and underlayment, installing hot mop and cap sheet, and poly foam adhesive used to attach all the tile. tearing off shingle roof is less by 100 a sq.. Decra can be installed also for about 625. Decra.com

Materials that nice could take alot of money out of this buisness, on the other hand it would save consumers lots of money in the long run. Kind of hard to decide whether I like it or not. Makes me think of things like where we would all be right now if Illegal workers never flooded the industry. Those two combined makes me think how would I support my family on McDonald's wages.

tile is supposed to be lifetime...... we still replace a bunch of tile roofs. You could be like texas roofers and go to florida or do strictly repairs on each others work.

LoL Texas roofers... I seen my share of them in Florisant MO when it got nailed by a baseball sized hail storm. Funny thing was none of em spoke English. There are the big billboards on the side of the Highways here that have a bunch of out of state plates one em Texas right in front and the sign says something about not using out of state contractors. Has A union logo on it no phone number though

roofed in texas for 6 months.....seen some awful work. went to the supply house to ask for step flashing and they had to special order it. Did more repairs than new work. If my kids didnt live there wouldnt have stayed that long. pay there is horrible too. they are sellin shingle roofs for as low as $95 per sq and thats a tear off! No way to compete with that. No licensing or codes to speak of.

Shane may as well leave those scraps behind for the roofers who don't speak English. Here in the St. Louis area there is like 40 pages of just roofing company's in the yellow pages. Were pretty flooded with companys. Lot's of low bidders, and cut throats around here. $130.00-$160.00 a Sq. here on average for a walk 1 layer tear off and shingle.
