I have a 1:12 more or less roof on an addition. We just bought this house and the inspector did not catch the 4, yes 4 roofs on this 22x40 addition. Plus we had a firepit vent that needed to be removed and roof repaired. I am in a bad situation. Can anyone tell me if I can use asphalt shingles on this type of pitch. I need to get this accomplished within the next 2-3 days. In K.C. area........Any roofers out there that can help me?

Anything less than a 3:12 should not have shingles. The manufacture of the shingles should give you this info. good luck.

Premier is correct, but I do not like shingles on less than 4:12. You will need a low slope system.

There are options like liberty from GAF or Flintlastic from Certainteed that have residential warranties. If it butts to an ajoining roof with a hhigher pitch you will have to go up atleast 24 inches from the stop of the shingles to prevent any problems. I follow that with ice and water 3 feet. Inspectors are a joke and have been for many years. Sorry to hear of the problems. 4 layers wow. If that is not against the law. Possibly can go after original owners from non-discloser but im no lawyer.

I have contacted a local roofing company and they gave me a bid of $1900, and suggest I use a Rolled Torch ??? product. Have never heard of this. Does this sound right for my problem?

That is a really low price from where i sit. 211.11 per square. Normally 320 + a sqaure + the tear of 4 layers + decking. Wowo
