any recommendations on a compressor to run a couple of guns that won't cost an arm/leg?

Well if you are going to skimp out on that what else are you cheaping out on. Best advise buy a gas compressor. If you take care of it, she should last over 8 years. worht the money of you do this every day.

should have been more specific. Only doing 2 houses of my own, not in the business. Only being cheap on my own house. Was hoping for a brand name/model that would get the job done and could be used for running equipment other than the coil guns after this summer.

won't be the fastest couple of guys, that is for certain. Father was a roofer and he gave me his guns after his last roof but is holding onto the old gas compressor he used for years. I was hoping you guys that know what you are doing could suggest an electric model that would be suitable if their is one at a reasonable price (under $300?). Didn't want you to think I was some person trying to steal jobs from the pros, just a poor teacher forced to do his own roofs in the summer.

i bought an electrical craftsman industrial little double tanker for $250 8 years ago and i just put down my last roof yesterday, i bought the compressor and the coil gun.
the coil gun lasted 3 days !!!
the compressor lasted 8 years and still runing only had to put a new piston ring once $15. thru all that time no lubrication needed and i dont even drain the thing i just wont give up.

If you have electricity at all jobs a smaller portable unit should work fine.
The Roll Air Honda 5.5's are my top choice. The motors run forever but the pumps don't. Usually the cheapest you'll buy a new one for is $850 but I picked up a good used one a couple years ago for $250 as a spare which has never had to be loaded into the pickup.
One of these days I may pick up a high air capacity electric compressor for doing tear offs so the homeowners don't have to gear the gas compressor run not stop.

A little 2gallon Hitachi will do just fine. But considering it is 2 average paced (maybe slower) roofers (guys with air guns), you could probably get by with some $100 special.
Someone should build a 2 gallon gas air comp. That would be the cats meow.
