I'm here in the midwest and it has been brutally hot this last week! I hope you guys are trying to keep cool also. I know alot of the customers neighbors would'nt be pleased, but it would sure be nice to work under the lights at night.

We need roofsuits with a/c units built into them. Ha Ha! Similiar to the astronauts. Good luck to all the other contractors and keep cool.

here in san diego the hottest day of the year last thursday, anywhere is like 90+ in the shade, i am more wooried about the skin cancer, here is a link with some symptoms to watch out for http://www.sptimes.com/2002/04/23/Floridian/Take_cover.shtml

sun screen dosent reallywork unless you reaply a lot, any products you ve guys seen around might be a good idea to post for fellow roofers, but then again theres cancer producing chemicals in all the roofing products basically, even sawdust and mastic, what about all those tear-oofs in the early days which might have contained asbestos huh?.

i heard that las vegas roofers did something similar to shifting their hours of work,i am not sure of this 100% but i heard the peak hours are brutal over there.

good luck,stay cool

Well i think if your die hard we have all been on a roof over 100 degress on the ground and continued to work. I use a portable air conditioner I bought from the snap on guy for like 300 bucks. Cools the air about 30 deg. and im happy.

Drop temp http://www.tooldesk.com/blue_blower.html. I use it and works great for me. Not tech a air conditioner but makes a big difference. But it for 1 person. They have one thats a heater also for those in colder climates makes a difference!

Well here in the southern Okanagan Valley BC it got to about 35c today (100+ F) and tommorow is gonna be even hotter. I just try to stay out of direct sunlight. Mind you the sun is directly overhead at about 11am here so by that time your screwed.

Drink lots of fluids, NOT JUST WATER. I have seen so many people go down due to drinking to much water and diluting thier bodies nutrients. I put 2 packs of kool-aid juice in a 4 litre (1 gallon) jug with 4-5 tablespoons of sugar, and 1 teaspoon of sea salt, normal iodized table salt is not the best stuff for ya. This basically makes Gatorade, but at a cost of $.50 cents a jug.

Keep kool folks
