i just recover a 3-tab roof for another contractor and the old roof had different areas with like 10-15 shingles with a crack right in the middle along the pattern diagonally, the structure felt as strong as any other roof ,has anyone else comeup to something similar and is this just due to regular wear and tear, roof seem like a 10-15 year old roof.?

I've been seeing a lot of problems after 12-12 years with the Certainteed Sealdon 20's with curling. The Certainteed Horizons after about 10 years in high sun light areas will start cracking like it was hit by lightning.

Not sure on you post if you went over the shingles but I'd never recomend it. If the homeowner wants to go over defective shingles I can't warranty my labor and will tell them to find another roofer who will do it and warranty it.

I dont do recovers anymore due to well warranty issues. If it was leaking why put a bandaid on it. Curled shingles are a major no no to do a recover. If a customer wants the cheap way out i will not help him in his or her quest. High quality or nothing at all.
