Hey fellow roofers I jsut got a roofing job and i've been at it for a close about 2 months. I'm basically a HELPER with no construction experience. Getting the shingles, loading the roof with tool, and clean up is mainl what I do. I make 7$/hr cash. Should I be making more? Get back with me poeple. Later.

We start everbody fresh at eight buck, on payroll. If you can think and progress, your pay goes to ten. If you start asking questions and show a genuine interest and real progress, you get bumped again after a short period of say two weeks.

The best new guy I ever had went from 8 bucks to 16 in a month. He is my brother and is still with me.

If you want to move on up the pay scale, you need to get involved and focus on your task, then the project, the product, and the company. Company people are the most valuable people, and therefore, get paid the best.

Hey Master,
Thanks for the pointers, we have beenso busy that the guys I work for really haven't had much time to show me stuff like using th enail guns and cutting the starters. Hopefully at the next job they will. I just watch and try to figure out what they need next and how to do a particular task. Appreciate your help, and hopefully I will be "using the nail gun" real soon.
